The Smashing Pumpkins - 'Zero'
We've decided on this song as it meets a number of criteria that we were looking for when choosing a track that we thought we could work well with. We wanted a track which had both narrative and performance merit so that the integration of both would work with both our narrative concept and performing members.
The narrative we have created deals with psychological issues in youths and the effects it has on them and those close to them. The lyrics in this track reflect both metaphorically and literally the emotions and attitudes we are attempting to capture. Furthermore, the mood and performance of the music itself audibly conveys this as well and allows for a wide scope of possibilities when filming the performance itself for the video; especially due to the genre.
